General Aung San is the father of Aung San SuuKyi and the heroic architect of negotiations which led to independence from Great Britain in 1948. He was assassinated in July 1947 aged 32, six months before his dream of independence was realized. Bogyoke (‘General’) Aung San is still very much loved by people nationwide.
A museum dedicated to Aung San has been reopened in Yangon. The museum has been incorporated into Khiri Travel’s half-day excursion to historic places in Yangon. During the half day tour we visit places in Yangon related to the life of Aung San. Your guide will give background information about his life and the history of Myanmar.
Places to be visited include downtown Yangon, the National Museum and Aung San’s wife’s mausoleum. The tour ends with a lunch in Aung San’s former office. It’s a highly informative, topical and touching tour in which we get to know a lot more about a great man and modern Burmese history.
